Frequently Asked Questions
Before your first therapy session:
-
Our first session is all about getting to know one another and helping you feel comfortable. When working with a child, I typically spend the first few minutes checking in with parents before focusing on building rapport, creating a connection, and identifying goals together.
-
Yes I provide both virtual and in-person sessions for children, teens, parents, and young adults.
-
A typical session lasts 50 minutes.
-
Sessions are billed at $225. I am an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance directly. I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
-
A good therapist fit is about feeling comfortable, understood, and supported. Our initial consultation is a chance to connect, talk about what you or your child may need, and see if working together feels like a good fit.
-
It’s completely normal for children, teens to feel nervous or unsure about starting therapy. I focus on creating a comfortable, welcoming space and building trust at your child’s pace, so they can ease into the process without feeling pressured.
During the therapy process:
-
Yes! Therapy goals can evolve as you or your child grows and new needs come up. We’ll continue checking in and adjusting goals together throughout the process.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. As progress is made, we may transition to every other week depending on your therapy goals.
-
Progress can look different for everyone. Together, we’ll regularly check in on goals, notice changes over time, and adjust our approach based on what feels most helpful.
-
Parent involvement is an important part of the process. I provide regular opportunities to check in, discuss progress, and collaborate on ways to support your child at home, while also respecting the privacy needed to build a trusting therapeutic relationship.
-
That’s completely okay. I use games, creative activities, and other developmentally appropriate approaches to build trust, rapport, and comfort, allowing children and teens to open up at their own pace.
-
I understand that things come up! I ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling a session. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to the full session fee.
